Roger Ball is the founding pastor of Family Worship Center located in the Bronx, New York. He is also a public school administrator in the Bronx. In addition to those roles, he is a clinical adjunct instructor at Fordham University in the Graduate School of Social Services and also teaches Pastoral Counseling and Care with Youth and Young Adults at New York Theological Seminary. Dr. Ball is a sought after speaker, workshop, and marriage retreat facilitator.


Bishop Dr. Roger Ball, LMSW, MRE

Bishop Dr. Roger Ball has been in ministry since the age of 17 when he preached his first sermon. He has been a Sunday School teacher, youth Pastor, Assistant Pastor, and is currently the Founder and Senior Pastor of Family Worship Center in the Bronx. He has been pastoring for 17 years. Bishop Ball has also served as a motivational speaker at workshops, retreats and camps and has been a counselor for over 17 years. He and his wife, Lady Senikha Ball are the co-directors of Family Ministries for the Northeast Region and Bermuda division of the Churches of God of Prophecy.

Dr. Ball is a NY state licensed master social worker. Secularly, he serves as an assistant principal within the New York City Board of Education. Prior to that, he was a Program Director with the Archdiocese of NY. Bishop Ball served as an Adjunct Professor at Concordia, Mercy and Monroe Colleges, and has been teaching at Fordham University’s Westchester campus for the last seven years. He has also served as a Program Director within the African-American Male Initiative of the Children’s Aid Society.

Dr. Ball earned a doctorate from Fordham University’s graduate school of religion and religious education with a concentration in marriage and family life. He holds two Master’s degrees (one in Religious Education and the other in Social Work) also from Fordham University.

He is currently completing studies for a third Master’s Degree which will be in Educational Leadership and Supervision through Baruch College. Dr. Ball also published his first book, “The Ties That Bind and Bruise,” in January of 2019.

His primary vocation is to be a husband to his wife, Senikha and father to their four children, Jonathon – 19, Vanessa – 17, Michael – 14, and Addison – 4.


The Clinician

Dr. Ball holds a Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University, and is licensed by the State of New York as a clinical social worker who specializes in marriage and family therapy.  He maintains a small private practice that is designed to help couples and families within communities of faith strengthen and rebuild their marital and family bonds.  Far too often Christians are forced to find clinical services from individuals that do not share what anchors them in their relationships and in the world - their belief in God.  Dr. Ball understands and sees faith as a strength that can and should be leveraged in the counseling space to help couples and families build their relationships. He provides counseling services in the following areas:

  • Individual, couples, and family counseling

  • Premarital counseling

  • Helping couples work through and recover from infidelity

  • Conflict resolution and problem solving skills

  • Increasing intimacy and connection

  • Financial management in the relationship

  • Parenting

  • Grief counseling

Services are highly confidential with a proven track record of walking with couples and families through the many changing life courses.

∙      Supports school district in implementing the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Initiative Program for young men of color

∙      Plans and executes weekend retreats for young men around team building, discipline, cooperative learning, habits of mind, and community building

Community Partnerships:

Dr. Ball has formed several strong community partnerships over the years in an effort to support and augment essential services for children and families within the public school system. Partners include: Food Bank of NY, Graham Windham, Children’s Aid Society, Aspira, Rocking the Boat, Elevate, and others.

He has also been instrumental in starting a food pantry in a local public school that allows children and families to access healthy and essential groceries on a weekly basis. It’s hard to learn when you are hungry! His local church, Family Worship Center, has also had a food pantry that has served Bronx communities for the past decade.
